Evaluations
| What Is YOUR Major Writing Weakness? |
Do you ever feel like screaming: "Why can't I get it published?" or "I write well, so why am I receiving rejections from editors?" Perhaps the reason is the type of feedback you're getting from the people who critique your work, especially if those critiquers are struggling writers--just like you--who don't really know what it takes to become published in today's marketplace. Sure, you can hire a copyeditor who is likely to charge anywhere for $2 to $12 (or more) a page to go over your work--if you can afford it--but there is an alternative. To solve any problem, you need to know precisely what the problem is and why it poses a problem for you, your story, or for the marketability of the manuscript. Consider this: in the first few pages of your work whatever errors you're making in grammar, syntax, and techniques will be repeated throughout the story. Doesn't it make sense then to have a knowledgeable person, a published writer, evaluate those first few pages so you can self-edit the rest of your story? A person who can tell you why something is necessary, explain why something doesn't work, and steer you to resources so you can learn to do it right? Writers may be self-taught, but why struggle through the long process of trial and error? Take a shortcut--get an evaluation today to improve your writing and storytelling.
An evaluation by me is not the same as a critique because an evaluation involves line editing with the overriding consideration of determining what story elements are missing, skewed, or overblown; including pinpointing repetitions and "crops of" overused words. Please realize that there are dozens of aspects, devices, and techniques of fiction writing to master and that no one can learn them all at once or even in one hour or one day. It takes time, and writing millions of words, but if you don't know what's needed or what isn't working in your storytelling, how can you achieve publication of your work? Talent will only take you so far, but craft can be learned -- and it is craft that enhances talent. Don't hesitate to get your work evaluated today.
